Tibetans have been residing in Nepal since the annexation of Tibet by China which started in 1950. The Tibetans live in Nepal as refugees. But they are happy to live in a nation – that allows them to practice their religion freely. WION spoke to some Tibetans living in Nepal – to see what growing Chinese investment in the Himalayan nations means for them. Here is an exclusive ground report from Kathmandu.

  1. even India helped Tibetan Buddhist refugees, but refused to give even temporary shelter to Bhutanese refugees who were Hindus, and the whole reason for their explosion was that the king of bhutan feared that these Nepali-speaking Hindus would merge bhutan to India, like Sikkim. bhutan doesn't have a border with Nepal, it didn't have fear from Nepal.

  2. Utterly ridiculous wion reporting we have welcomed Tibetans refugees n they r free to practice thier religion,n run thier business in Nepal no Nepalese have an issue why would we stop in the birth place of Buddhism …

  3. So many wrong points in this video let me make it clear
    1) Christian Missionaries are threat to Tibetan culture in Nepal not the Chinese government ( go and check national census of Nepal and you can see how many Tibetan converted to Christianity)
    2) What you expect a small country like to do ?? Fighting against China in favor of Tibet to loose all those funds provided by China ??
    3) If Indian investment Media is so generous about Tibetan than why don’t they take all Tibetan refugee of Nepal to India and give them shelter, food and job ??
    4) I have so many Tibetan friends( 3 rd generation after China Invasion ) in Kathmandu, and they consider themselves as Nepali first and then Tibetan, they are Tibetan by language and culture by they are Nepali. This is the 21st century of global citizenship and westerner are still playing Tibetan card !
5 ) How about promoting Tibetan language and Culture rather than just keep talking like china did this, China did that ??
    6) Let’s not forget Nepali King Mahendra gave shelter to Tibetan refugee in Nepal even before Jawaharlal Neharu of India did. In Nepal Hinduism and Buddhism are like two different side of same coins , I fear more about western Christian missionaries who are destroying Buddhist Monasteries to build up Church than China !!
Truth is bitter . Thank You
Love to my Tibetan brothers and sister !!

  4. WE want more Chinese investments, why would India or Tibetan poke their nose on it. Nepal is a sovereign country. Those who doesn't want can leave the country and go to India or the west.

  5. Nepal is a peace loving country and Nepal has peaceful relation with both India and China. Here I see Tibetan refugees try to influence the relation with China. What I visualise is Tibetan refugees should not try to dictate the relations between any of the neighboring countries which is beyond their rights. You all came here as refugees and stay here as you are. Nobody is speaking against you.

  6. I am Nepalese. Tibetans people who living in our country are very humble people. but our government lock most of them up for no reason. for that reason we don't like our own government. Free the Tibetans people. i stand with Tibetans.
