Why I’m so cheap (how to budget your personal finance) | Onlyinvesting.info

By onlyinvesting.info Feb 14, 2019 #techlead

Ex-Google Tech Lead talks about personal finance and budgeting, and a philosophy on money gained through experience. One of my most prized items has been the BenQ e-Reading LED Desk Lamp:

What is the value of money? I think that is something that most of us will never know until it is too late. It is only when we reach the end of our lives that we will understand whether we’ve actually saved enough. You’d hope that you’d have made wise money decisions throughout and that you’d have nothing to regret — although I don’t think that would be the case seeing how many older folks are living nowadays. Quite likely, it will be either your children or your own future self who will pay for the items that you buy today. (Make no mistake though, the lamp is worthwhile and you can pass it on to your children).

  1. I think that one should weapon his family with skills and knowledge so they could generate money šŸ’° for them selves and you could spend whatever you want and live a satisfying life

  2. I live as cheap as possible. Frugally.

Cheap life who cares, even for internet I refuse to pay as the free speed offer is enough. Slow, but it works. Cheap life is a key for financial freedom, stop spending. In my life I can live days, literally days without spending, one dime. I enjoy not spending. I stock food for a week and live with that paying few bills. You end up celebrating your once a week treat.

  3. I just really really disagree. And here's why:Ā
You can wear a 5k$ watch during the dinner because you have earned it, they didn't just gifted that to you, right? So you are just spending your resources, and then why others should get an even cut on that? And then if so, how many of people you know do you consider in your circle? Listen, TechLead, I respect you and love you and watch all your videos but on this one I just couldn't stop myself from writing this comment, sorry for the long speech, have a good one, brother!

  4. Some YouTubers actually have a channel for their cars, that pays for the cars… one guy started such channels from living from a scrap car started filming other people's supercars with a mobile phone… now he owns four.

  5. Never buy a car you can't afford to service. Some supercars have a contract that is for mandatory yearly service, change tires, etc. They require special tires, fuels that are hard to find, etc.

  6. Hello, what I understand from all your videos is that your hourly rate is $250, that you can do a lot in an hour, as long as you agree 'precisely' on what is to do… Sincerely JES.

  7. When I went to my family and friendsā€™ funerals, the slideshows or photobook show the times we spent together. Those memories will remain even after their death. Itā€™s not the material goods we buy. A good time is worth more, even if itā€™s as simple as a picnic in the park.

  8. This is actual practical advice that no financial "experts" ever give, they still just try and sell you services and investments, not really helping you to get there.

  9. I'm a swing trader, and i only allow myself to spend half of the winnings, but i rarely do, because every time i make profit i'm no longer allowed to spend tha last trades winnings, only the latest one. You need to make rules for yourself, otherwise you will end up spending too much
