Clean energy investing: There’s lots of capital on sidelines waiting for rates to drop, expert says | Onlyinvesting.info

As the CERAWeek conference continues in Houston, Bain & Co. Partner and Energy Policy Expert Cate Hight joins Yahoo Finance Live to discuss the challenges companies may face in investing in energy initiatives.
Hight acknowledges that the industry is currently “in the middle of companies trying to sort out” investing strategies. While companies are willing to invest in new energy technologies, she notes that the pace at which they do so remains uncertain.
One significant factor impacting investment decisions is the increased interest rate environment, which has affected the “ability to put capital to work” in the energy sector. However, Hight believes that this is a matter of timing rather than a question of whether investments will ultimately yield returns.

Inflation isn’t prices going up. Inflation is an expansion of the money supply and credit. As a result, prices go up – because there’s more money chasing the same quantity of goods and services.

Interest rates aren’t historically high and it’s the zero percent interest rates that fueled the everything bubble in the decade following the Great Financial Crisis (GFC).

Low interest rates since the GFC played a huge role in letting the inflation genie out of the bottle.

Now you want to go back to them?

Don’t you understand that will let the inflation genie out of the bottle again?
