  1. My customer wanted Ben & Jerry's ice-cream. They didn't have the flavor or the replacement flavor. Buying a different flavor of ice-cream is risky because people can be picky about which ice-cream they like. What I did is zoom into the photo and look at the ingredients for the ice-cream they wanted, then I picked a flavor that was similar, in this case both flavors had cookies and chocolate ice-cream.

  2. I hate when I have to make a lot of replacements and I take the time to take photos of possible replacements and ask them if they want to replace or refund, and they don't reply. So finally I have to decide so I made all that effort for nothing.

  3. I try to take photos of every time, especially if I leave it at their door. This way if they claim they didn't get something, I've got proof that I dropped it off.

I handed the items to a customer and they turned their back to me, and set the items down on a table, then turned back and showed me that the wrapping for one of the expensive items was torn so I refunded that item. I honestly think they tore the item when their back was to me. There is no defense to this scam. Even a photo of the items may not prove there is no tear in the wrapping. You could only see the tear when he pulled it open.

  5. Had my first day today. I saw 25$ given and thought omg this is awesome for only 1 mile. Next thing i knew it was a 71order batch lol took me 2hours

  6. Thanks so much for these tips. Something that has helped me tremendously while shopping….ASK THE STAFF ABOUT PRODUCT LOCATIONS WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW! This has been invaluable for my time when I’m in an unknown store. I never waste time trying to guess where an item is. I always ask the staff. Makes the process seamless and easy.

  7. Also, I’ve seen significantly more earnings when I’ve done this:
    1. Shop early (I have kids so I’m up at 4:45 am)
    2. Shop late
    3. Shop during inclement weather (in my case, when it’s raining in Florida)

  8. If you see an order on the app for long period of time, and perhaps it disappears for an hour or so, then comes back, don't accept it. It's likely a "Meet at door" where the customer won't answer the door and is trying to bait you into leaving the items unattended so they can report the order never delivered and get it for free. They often order under ten items and cumbersome items like large totes, because they are hoping you don't want to haul it back to the car so you'll just leave it. Don't leave it! Call support and you'll get to keep the items or return them to the store for like $5. PS you won't get the tip, batch pay only.

  9. I just turned platinum. I have over 230 orders. Which is 2230 points but Instacart is telling me that I do not have enough points for diamond. Why is that you are hard to start over whenever and get 2000 points before I get diamond.

  10. my biggest instacart tip is – have a girlfriend. my girlfriend shops with me and she always finds the things that i can’t see with my dude-eyes. also, i can send her on missions to other aisles while i shop the other aisle. we’re such a good team!

  11. We had a guy place an order at Ridley’s and they had 2/6 items he wanted. We showed a picture of each near empty shelves asking if he wanted replacements and he was just like never mind delete those items and I’ll look for it myself 😭 then switched the 2$ tip to 80¢ so that was a 35 minute 5$ order for nothing

  12. Bad substitutions are number one of the Don’t Dos. A bad substitution will piss me off more than if the item just wasn’t there because now I have to go through the trouble of returning this crappy replacement that I was charged for

  13. This is why I don't do shop orders like IC or Shipt. I would just substitute whatever or simply tell them it's out if I don't find it. Not spending all day trying to get this or that

What makes me laugh sometimes, is when i see new shoppers that are kind of disgruntled. i ask what is wrong? you need help with an item? they snap back 'NO, this order isn't paying like it did.' then i think oh its' past the honeymoon phase. i ask why they want to do instacart? they tell me well i saw people on youtube making $2000 to $3000 every week. really? well a lot is to be considered too. they ask like what? the market they are in. the population. what stores there are. how busy the stores are daily. when they have less customers. if you want to do good at ANYTHING you need to research that subject. then ask if you REALLY want to do this for a living? there is a lot to factor in vs a regular job. at a job you only have to pay weekly fuels. where as in the gig economy you have to pay for fuel every 3 days. they say 'well this gig isn't for me' and i typically don't see them anymore. keep in mind i am not trying to discourage anyone from doing gig jobs. but there is a lot more to it then just 'what i saw on Youtube'

  15. Hi, I just signed up for instacart and I've had Uber Eats and doordash. So I do the you know shopping for them. But I'm not seeing an addresses and is really bothering me. Because I end up having to delete them once. I get to the rest of the grocery store 'cause. It was like super further than what the original distance stated. Thanks For Sharing 🤗

  16. Thank you for your tips.i. did my first batch on a Monday and made about 32.00.i logged on the next day and my balance is zero.i did not cash out yet. I'm not sure where my earning went.customer service said give it 12 hours to update .do they automatic sent funds to my checking account

I hate this app 7 hours and only 58 bucks today all because app wouldnt scan items so i drove to stores for no reason and instacart said theyd reimburse me but i havent saw it and a 67 item order declined on me so i had to jump through hoops to get it forced approved im doing 4 more tomorrow morning to get promotional pay then im deleting this ridiculous app and going back to DD my shopping seconds are 67 seconds per item im good at it but the app is crap!!!!

  20. Am only a customer & a couple years before i did get substitution options as soon as i placed the order, way before delivery. I don't get those options anymore & i don't know why.
